Turn a business card or photo into a contact
Attach a photo, business card, or PDF to Whiz, and it reads the details into a new or existing contact.
A stack of business cards after an event is a stack of relationships you haven't started yet. A photo captures one before the moment passes.
Why it matters
Typing in a dozen business cards after a conference almost never happens the same day, and by the time it does, half the context is gone: who you talked to, what they said, why you cared. Handing Whiz a photo instead means the contact gets created while you still remember why it mattered.
How it works
In Whiz, attach a photo of a card, or any file with someone's details on it, and Whiz reads it and proposes a contact: name, title, email, phone, whatever it can make out. It works the same way with a PDF. Whiz shows you what it found before anything is final, so you can fix a typo or fill in what it missed.
How to use it
- In the mobile app, open the Whiz tab. It's the one you land on when you open the app.
- Tap the attachment option, then choose Take Photo to use your camera, or pick an existing image from your gallery.
- Send it to Whiz. It reads the image and proposes a contact with whatever details it could pull out.
- Confirm the details: check what Whiz found, and correct anything before it saves.
- On the web: Whiz accepts image and file attachments in the same chat, so you can do this from a laptop too. Drop in a photo or a PDF the same way.
Good to know
- Whiz reads PDFs as well as photos, so a scanned card or a contact sheet someone emailed you works the same way.
- This works for updating an existing contact too, not just creating a new one. Attach a card for someone already in your network, and Whiz fills in what's missing.
- Whiz can also format an answer as a downloadable spreadsheet when you ask it for a list, not just a single contact.
- The read isn't guaranteed to be perfect. Always check the details Whiz proposes before you move on to the next card.
